Hi, CV,
My chrome parts all went black in 1994, but I will probably have everything triple-show-chromed during my next full resto. I love the black look, but the ChromaLusion paint on my car is so visually loud that the parts kinda need the chrome to keep up.
Your GT is unique, and that's what this is all about.
Warmest...

Thanks for the + comments. Yes, a main motivation for blacking out was that the pastel Green has almost the same "value" as aluminum and chrome, so it was lacking contrast. I'm not sure I would have chosen the green its painted, but it's play against the black is effective, so it's grown on me to the point that I will likely repaint it the same color in the future. From the beginning I was more interested in making my car look more like a race car that escaped from the track than a luxury exoticar.

Great looking brad. Sounds like you spent alot of time on it and it definitely shows.
Not a big fan of the luggage rack and doesnt really fit the race car look, but if you need it, you need it.

You're right, the luggage rack was a concession to practicallity - I couldn't carry a passenger and my catalog case/briefcase at the same time.
The luggage rack will likely be where I end up storing my next effort of doors, so I can ride without them installed until the last minute if it looks like rain. Regards....

love the green, always have. not a huge fan of black out, but as you see, it works with the green. for storage, you could down size your speakers and use the rear deck as some storage. but i think i know the answer to that .. big bob

Yes, I'm not normally a big fan of the blackout look, but I think it works well with this color. I'm thinking of replacing the speaker box, but the roll bar diagonal member makes it so the space behind it is pretty inaccessible for larger items (like tops, etc.). Would be useful for tossing things like coats, back there. Not a high priority change at the moment though. Warmest Regards....

funny thing about the luggage rack is that its actually a requirement for gt in lemans, which is why the gt40 and all the ferrai's had them. I figured you were just adding it to give it a more authentic gt look lol good work either way

I like the luggage rack. I remember a friend of my dad's had this totally bad ass corvette in the 70's that had a luggage rack on it. I still remember thinking that it looked kinda goofy on a sports car, and I didn't understand its importance, but now I can see the need for it. I guess the point is that I actually remember it. As far as the colors go, the green and black work perfectly together. I ended up buying a kawasaki ninja a few years ago over the other sport bikes I was looking at just because of the green and black color scheme.
