Remove spacer, remove the hose's, cap off the lower connection, You are correct on the pre warmer it heat up the air flow. You dont need it, its just another place to have a possible vacuum leak.
They were used in cold climates & high altitude areas.

Memorial day weekend bug out Manassas Virginia is always a huge turn out they also have one on labor day weekend.
I can see it now, a line of Bradleys touring the nations capitol.

If you have the motor out you will need the fly wheel lock. Click on string www.jcwhitney.com/flywheel-lock-for-vw/p2004289.jcwx?filterid=c39j6or.... take it up to your local garage and have them use their impact. If its still in the car put it in 1st gear, parking break on and than use a 200lb+ impact wrench or 1/2 or larger breaker w/4 'pipe extender for leverage. (I have not done it this way put I have been told it will work. I would be concerned w/ damaging the trans.) Regards,

I used original/new parts for a Karmen ghia on my 69 bug pan and only changed out the front, didn't have any of the issues you had, it took a little over 4 hours.

Assuming you are talking about the generator/alternator pulley...If you are replacing it with a new one use a pipe wrench to hold it in place and use the impact on the nut. If you are going to reuse it, use a strap wrench or....use a bigger screw driver that takes up all the space in the notch & angle it the opposite way clock wise while you are turning the nut counter clockwise, it does not have to sit on the crankcase.

Go to your nearest boat dealer/repair shop and purchase a VERTGLAS kit,(or go on line). Follow the instruction completely, YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED. That's if the car is still a gel coat.

Old guys and new guys are all intrested in the same thing BRADLEYS. There are multable sites/forums for every auto that was made... So why should this be any different? If there were 5 sites/forums we all would look to see ... so..so..
MJ is a good guy "old school" type, he's stuck a few hot coals under my but so has a few others, so what... Ignore what you dont like and move on.

61 model year had 4 dowels (Post the engine # we will tell you the year). Apparently the motor has been rebuilt with a possible counter weight crank. As Bryan noted...leave the xtra ones out or drill. Make sure you dont have a lot of play on the crank(push & pull the flywheel). The starter teeth should have gone bad before the flywheel teeth, Also check the starter brass bushing for play, fits in the transmission nose.
