How so is that? This is most definately on topic...regarding my Invader GT project. The type of chassis/mechanical components used with any project...has alot to do with how a car builder styles their car. Ever heard of form following function? If your concern is...that my project is not Bradley GT specific...well, this is the off topic section of the forum. What I am doing with my Invader GT, can be applied to a wide range of VW based GT component cars.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. Your first page of posts has the forum really wide. I think it has to do with the first photos you posted. Also your text is not formatting correctly on the first page

Yeah, I have had some issues with my text not staying in one place, when I post a photo. Instructions on how to get the photos & text lined up...will be of great help.

I wish I could upload my photos straight from my computer...instead I have to send them to one of my photobucket albums. I click the direct link info on the photobucket picture, then I copy that to the image icon here on Bradley GT car club forum. Lately, I have been seperating my text & photos, so they can be somewhat understandable. It would be so much easier to simply upload photos from my computer.

you do not have to use the Direct link you can use the image code link. Is there a reason you cannot do this?

Once uploaded it will ask you if you want to go to album or upload more. Go to album and under the photos you will see 4 options to share. Choose the last that should said Img Code

Whcgt,
Thanks for the offer through the PM.
Nothing personal but you can't make this project work. I don't have time to call you to convince you of all the reasons why it won't work. I know you got smoked on your last kit deal, and unfortunately your going to spend a bunch more money on this dream needlessly. Your not going to make it work. I know this sounds harsh, but its reality.
You have not thought through the process well enough nor do you have an understanding of the platform you are working on. Clearly since you can't afford the $1000 for the car all at once you don't have the significant resources it will take to even consider making this conversion work.
I understand dreams. I understand dreaming of doing wonderful things. When I was a kid I dreamt of making a submarine out of a large propane tank. I did neat drawings like you did on your Invader. It all seemed to make sense to my 10 year old brain at the time. Thank God I didn't have the money to blow on such a silly project then. Your taking money that you can do so much more with and your flushing it down the toilet.
But hey...its America. Go for it. Keep us all posted. Show us your progress. Dosument the build as you go along. Prove me totally wrong and I will make a full apology to you for all to see.

When you upload photos you have to hit enter after each one otherwise they go across the page like your first post. Go and edit it by doing that and see what happens. You should just fix the 914 if it is rust free.It looks way better than that Invader. Most of those had underlying rust in the rockers behind that nice panel and in the hell hole under the battery.

Photos of my Porsche 914 project can be seen at: www.facebook.com/william.clay2 I have been doing alot of work on the car, I have made my own ignition harness and alot of other electrical work...such as pulling the injectors & putting on new seals and pulling out the computer & sorting that harness then putting back in the car. Next will be finishing up...sorting out the gas tank fuel lines and alot of rust issues to fix. You will see the rust damage in the photos on my facebook page. Started re-assembling the damaged 1500cc engine...that goes in the Invader GT. Waiting to get the correct pushrod tube outer seals...SCAT sent me the black o-rings...don't need 'em. What I need are the cream colored outer pushrod end seals, should get those by around the beginning of next month.

Tnx. Yes, it was designed & then produced by Bruce Weeks(Auto Kit) in Alameda California. It was also made in Spain(Escarabajo Invader GT). Not many were made, although there are several varients of the kit. All use a Karmann Ghia windshield & are designed to fit on a type 1 vw chassis. Beetle chassis is what is mainly used, Karmann Ghia chassis can be used....if the floor pans are changed to a Beetle type floor pan.

How is the Porsche to Invader project coming? I have decided to keep restoring the Porsche 914, because it is a rare & desireable version(1973 Bahia Red F.I. 2.0 liter), it has the rare cloth seat inserts as well. Alot of rust damage is what I am working on, I need to get a repacement rear suspension console..through AutoAtlanta. I then need to have that welded in place. Then I will need new inner & outer longitudinals & floor pans. I am looking for a I.R.S. beetle chassis for my Invader GT instead.

Seems you would have been able to find a clean 914 for the money you will have to put in it. I remember only paying a few $1000 for the one I owned it I drove it daily.

I only paid $1000 for the Porsche 914, from a salvage yard. It was a wise investment, as parts alone are worth at least $4,000. When the car is fully restored...1973 Bahia Red 2.0 liter fuel injected Porsche 914's go for around $13,000 to $17,000 on ebay. It is the 2nd most desireable model..after the Porsche914/6 version.

Ooops...looks like the Invader is up for sale: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Invader-GT-/120943824587?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c28d04ecbFunny.....No mention of the trashed chassis that he referrenced earlier in this post. Buyer beware I guess. Nov 29, 2011, 3:40pm, jspbtown wrote:Not only hard work, but engineering as well. Hopefully you have some background in design so you can build the appropriate subframe for the Porsche. Would hate to see it fold up on you. Oh...one other question whcgt...I notice in your picture the front wheels seem to be offset in the wheel wells. Will you correct that as well when you mate the body to the 914? If so it might be more than just the couple of inches you initially thought. Great eye, It is indeed a chassis that sucks, that my Invader GT is currently riding on. It is a 1956 chassis, that must have been damaged & not repaired..then the Invader GT body was put on this piss poor chassis by the original builder. I have cursed alot, when working on this car, it is incredibly difficult to drive this car on the chassis that it is on. The original builder of my particular Invader GT...has almost brought me to tears...with the lack of attention to detail & mechanical problems he put together. But I am slowly solving these issues & bringing back my Invader GT, to a condition I can be proud of.
