Southeast Minnesota. Winona, MN.
I knew the day would come, and I am pretty unhappy about it, but…
I must get rid of a lot of 'stuff' and my GTII is one to go. I am now retired, and have had enough injuries that wrenching has become very difficult, and the GTII difficult to drive due to neural spinal issues. Hey, you might never get this in old age. Worry not. Live life!
The car is not perfect but a good mechanic will see that it has a very good basic foundation.
First the bad - Butt sag is keeping the doors from closing properly. Driver's side window is cracked. T-Tops leak. It has a backfire, but only at low speeds. I suspect that one of the carb enrichening circuits (wet choke) is stuck partly open. (The Webers have disabled and hidden enrichening circuits but sometimes they are shipped partly open. I would pin them down.)
The rear quarter windows are out and must be put back in. I include two sets, one set stock and one set tinted. The tinted look great on the all-black body.
The engine is a low-mileage Jake Raby 2165cc, high-compression, 160HP which revs to 8,000RPM in a smooth heartbeat, with dual 40mm Weber carbs, (meaning each cylinder has one 40mm carb), Nicklesil aluminum cylinders, big heads, roller-rockers, split cam, h-rods, fully tapped case, full-flow oil system, filter, Swedish Setrab oil cooler with its own fan, serpentine belt, alternator, and a close ratio transmission for gears 1-3 and overdrive in 4th. IRS, 4 into 1 headers, wrapped, and brand new dual quiet packs. ..and Jake Raby said that a modest change will pull over 200 horsepower, no sweat.
Disc brakes up front, a lot of suspension work, front and rear stabilizers and torque braces.
A spare, brand new windshield in the shipping box and original 'big blue' building instruction book.
White original seats, full sound proofing in chassis (sealed cell aircraft) and full carpet.
Dash custom made brushed aluminum.
Wiring is all new, including a rebuild of the dash and ignition circuits so that every part has its own live and ground wire. No more 'Christmas tree' wiring that causes all to fail when one fails. #1 cable extension of ground to chassis.
1972 IRS Chassis in excellent condition.
-- UPDATE --
Got the house air-conditioning fixed. $$$$$. It was 100 degrees in the house and my dear Molly was suffering. Better now. Money often makes things better, but the GTII is still sitting in the garage, sulking.
My other ACVW, a beautiful '58 Volkswagen (dual carb, bored, stroked, hot cam) tires sat so long they collapsed. More $$$ to spend. GOT to get on the road.
Make offer
