I recently picked up a 1971 bus engine ( AE ) . I was wondering, if i added duel carbs would I pick up any preformance on a stock engine and if so what size carbs would be best. I would also upgrade the dist and coil as well. of course a header is a must have.
I don't want to break the bank, so give me some affordable idea's.

In my humble experience, upping the cam and adding dual Kadrons (Brosols) will make a huge difference. I've got a 1776 with such a setup and it is very quick.
Keep in mind that the stock ACVW engine has a built-in rev-limiter. It's called The Carburetor. Seriously, it's darned difficult to over-wind a stocker with stock carb. (It sounds like it's gonna blow, but it won't unless it's got broken parts.)
So with dual Kadrons you have to be careful because you can red-line in lower gears very quickly.
