So very lucky my Astra GT was not burned to the ground in a fireball. Cannot believe the previous owner/or builder..had a fuse block next to the main fuel line. That fuse block was saturated in fuel. I have purchased a brand new fuse block to replace the 3 little fuse blocks. I have relocated it in a proper location. I have begun re-wiring & have new parts on the way. I have a new relay with an integral fuse, plus a new turn signal switch on the way.

Hard to believe that was ever considered a "show car" by anyone....

I agree with that. Had any car judge ever looked closely, they would have found the car unfinished with crude workmanship. I will just keep at it & I will solve the issues that this car has. It will take awhile, but it will be a decent car when accomplished.

I love the Astra Gt. I think you have a great find and should be proud of it. Kinks are kinks! But you have a beauty!

Just another great example for anyone who is considering buying a kit.......have the seller take a picture under the dash. The wiring will tell you the time & effort given in building the entire car.

Speaking of under dash wiring, I have been busy. I have removed my dash pieces & most wiring. I will be replacing the 2 piece dash with 2 gauges...to a single piece dash with 3 gauges...from my 914 Porsche. Plus, I will change the 10 switch dash to a dash piece with fewer switches & incorporate 3 of my Porsche 914 switches.

That will make a nice unique ride when you are done. It looks like you've got a good head of steam going in the right direction. You might want to consider blowing an extra $20 or so and re-replace the fuse block with a modern blade type panel. It will take less room, you can mount your flashers to it or get the sockets incorporated, you can get fuses that light up when blown and you can get fuses at any 7-11. Those glass fuses aren't very vibration resistant, can't be found everywhere and aren't cheap any more. You'd never regret it. Unless of course you are going for that vintage thing.

Thank you. I am going for the 1972 VW aircooled schematic look, with the wiring. So, I bought the 12 position fuse block & mounted it in the proper location. I get the glass fuses from NAPA, the same place I got the new fuse block from. It is getting wired in a simple fashion, so whomever gets the car in the future, can pull up the 1972 wiring diagram & have an easy time understanding what wire goes to where. My electric fuel pump relay, came in today, I am now waiting on my new turn signal switch to arrive. Got estimate for getting my new dash made, pretty good price. I will be getting that made soon.
