That my wife had when she came out from shopping and found this: No note. And despite being in a very small crowded parking lot during the middle of the day no one apparently saw anything. Add that to a tire blowout with no spare on the highway and it made for a pretty miserable, and expensive, day yesterday

Look for an elderly person with blue paint skids on their fender.
That's a tough one,
I get shopping cart dents all over my GMC Safari
so much so that soon it will look like a hammered finish

Yeah...I could just see the elderly person parked to my wife's left pulling out, cutting it too close, and just grabbing the bumper cover and puling away.
Oh no...I am a body hack. I won't be touching this one. The headlight assembly seems to have been pushed under the fender so I have no idea what's involved there. I know a new headlight assembly is $1200.
I just did repaint the front bumper cover on my Lexis SC430 before I sold it and it came out d**n good! I shocked myself. I had a ton of road rash from this past New England weather so I had to sand it all the way down, two coats of epoxy primer, followed by some Napa base coat, and 3 coats of Kirker clear. Just some easy buffing and it looked great.

Did you check the buildings around for parking lot cams? Best of luck dealing with the Insurance co.

There is one "anchor" store in the lot and several other small stores. We checked with the anchor store and they do have cameras but none that stretch that far into the lot. None of the other stores have cameras. We also confirmed with the police that there were no other cameras in the lot, other than the grocery stores which was very, very far away. Highly doubtful it was aimed at this location.
Yes..looking forward to the insurance company and any "discussions". I work in insurance (not property & casualty though) so I should be prepared. The persona who answered the phone was nice. He assigned an appraiser and they are coming out Monday (good considering the holiday) and I got a nice email from the adjuster warning me that I need to "mitigate my damages" and they only pay reasonable storage costs. A sternly worded response letting him know that the car was in my driveway and I was therefore complying with his request, and reminding him of the high level of claim service that I expected.
Sometime I worry that I look to forward to confrontation.....

Well I have had good discussions with the adjuster. He seems reasonable. The appraiser came out on Monday as promised and the preliminary estimate is around $5400. There will undoubtedly be some additions to that as well.
The body shop can get the car in on Tuesday and they said 2-3 weeks! That just sucks. I need to eat a rental for that long. Also they notice damage on 1 tire so it looks like its a new set of shoes for the old girl and I will be needing to eat the cost of 3 tires.
This is going to be a $1200+ out of pocket little mishap for me.
