I looked at some used radio/cd players today. I will probably go with a Sony CDX-F5000. I really don't want to cut another hole in my dash. There is already a hole that looks like a radio hole, except too small, to the left of the steering column. I suppose I could enlarge that hole and use it. I don't know what to do about that hole if I don't put a radio there or I suppose I could mount the Sony inside the glove box. It comes with a remote so I could hide it but I don't want to make it very difficult to put cds into. There are two speakers still mounted in the side panels, behind the seats, on both sides. The covers are missing and I guess the speakers are probably no good and need replacing. The power antenna is still in the rear quarter of the car. I will have to see if it is any good or not.

Ok, after some research, it appears that the hole in my dash was intended for the stock VW radio. J-Bugs offers a couple of choices in custom stereos that retain the stock appearance, fitting the original hole in VW dashes, so they will fill the hole that is already there. They of course, are AM and FM, a USB port, and i-pod connection. They cost a little more than I planned to spend, the one shown being $249.95, but I'll just have to decide if I am willing to enlarge that hole in the dash, or not. Decisions, decisions. I guess I could just pick up a stock VW radio to plug up that hole for now.
