Where can you get a replacement speedometer for a gt2 that will fit into the existing trim ring and how can one calibrate for speed inaccuracies because my car has smaller tires than original and the speed is taken off wheel speed.

I used a Dakota Digital gauge set for VW. Kind of pricey but real nice. Calibration was super easy. Push a switch and drive a measured mile. Done.

Well you can't. You can check EBAY for replacement models that will match. Or you can replace with an electronic (either speed sensor or GPS driven) speedo.

The speedometer is a VDO It is available from Empi . Find a vw dune buggy shop close to you the catalog is a 600 page catalog of all of the parts offered by Empi. In color. Were talking anything that has ever been made for vw or dune buggy or sandrail or busses . You get the idea. They are free. They're are no prices but you can see the parts you need with numbers and order them on line or at the shop you go to. A very valuable source of information.

Are you sure they are still available from Empi? They are the VDO thingypit gauges with yellow numbers. I do not think they are available anywhere new. EDIT: the board replaces the term that sounds like "rock" but begins with a "c" and not an "r" with "thingy"..... I was not being smug. So they are "R"ockpit style but replace the "R" with a "C"
