I ran across a gt2 and havent been able to figure out what year , no title. It is in good shape , but i need a pan , a post 68 i believe as the one it is on is toast , but only the pan. If i cannot get a good pan i will have to part it out. It has all good glass , seats , doors , motor , everything. Help me make up my mind , part it or build it. Dirk

you can find a good pan ...might have to go pick it up but if you search C.L. find a titled one. They are a blast to drive... there are a lot of videos on you tube changing pans. I JUST watched a video where the guy bought a Bradley and the pan was shot . it was a really good video ... building it from the chassi up he was able to incorporate a lot of custom work. also ck out Big BOBS restoration. I believe I saw it under a body lift post just recently...Ck out all of his custom work. well worth the look.

Thanks dave. I'm taking the body off tomorrow , i looked on craigs list in tucson , no go. Guess i will keep working on cleaning it up as it is filthy beyond belief. I have had volkswagens before , a 64 and a 68. I will eventually find a donor. I just retired from a fiberglass molding company in phoenix so the repairs are within my scope. I will take your posts as a rebuild it vote. I wonder if the body would fit on a spitfire frame Thanks for your reply , Dirk

"I wonder if the body would fit on a spitfire frame"
Anything fits on anything with enough fabrication. Trust me...you would lose interest in it long before you came close to finishing it.
Since you don't seem that committed your best bet is to separate it, clean it, and sell it off in pieces.

If the center tunnel from the engine fork to the steering rack mount is intact you only need floorpans which are fairly cheap or easily constructed. Look closely

I have a GT with a decent pan and no engine that I'd be willing to sell (I have a GT II now that I'm working on). The rear suspension will need redoing but the pan itself and front suspension are good. It's a 1963 swingaxle pan that was converted to IRS improperly. It's got a drop pan that came installed with it that would give you a little more headroom. If you're interested, I have it in Michigan. I have the rest of the details on what's all there in a classified. It does have a title too or I have a guy that could sell you a title at just about your pick of year for a couple hundred bucks I think. Shoot me an email at TheActualSteve@gmail.com if you're interested.
